WWC315 - Marsha's Challenge: All Things Feminine

It's been a month since I used one of my House Mouse stamps and I swear I'm suffering from withdrawal.  So, of course, I had to use one today.   This card was such fun to make, deciding on a sentiment and having everything fit into a slimline card.

Just because I knew I wanted to use a House Mouse image, I checked out the HM&FMC to see what their option was for the current challenge.   And the option was for a slimline card.  That took a lot of pressure off.  For you crafters out there, you know how sometimes it takes a while to get going, thinking about all the styles of cards one can create.  Knowing I was going to make a slimline card and having already picked out my image, I felt like a huge weight was lifted and was able to get right down to creating instead of  thinking and overthinking, turning the whole thing into an ordeal.

I used a base of Whisper White and was able to use a fun set of slimline dies which I just acquired.  The set let me cut out the lovely scalloped Melon Mambo layer, the stitched white layer, and the skinny piece onto which I stamped my image and the sentiment.  Way to get the ball rolling!

After stamping Amanda mouse, I used my Spun Sugar and Faded Jeans Oxide Inks to make the sky.  Then I watercoloured her cute image using my Derwent watercolour pencils and Aqua Painter.  To ground her, I added some grass and watercoloured the area in a variety of earthy colours.  When everything had dried, I assembled the card and felt that something was missing.

So I grabbed my Shimmery Crystal Effects and added three "dew drops" to the flower petals.  Finally it looked right and finished.  I love the way it turned out, don't you?

Have fun checking out our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and I hope you'll link your creation before the deadline on Monday, May  17th, 2021.

WWC306 - Michelle's Challenge: All About Occasions

I used another new House-Mouse image for Michelle's challenge this week.  It's a card I could give to a friend or someone could give to their mother.  It's just about the little things and I couldn't resist.

My base is the Heavy Whisper White.  I used a narrow matte of Pacific Point (one of my favourite blues) and then adhered the image panel.  I stamped the image on Mixed Media paper using my new Tsukineko VersaFine Clair Morning Mist ink.  I love the less intense lines around the images and think it looks a lot more natural than black ink.  For the colouring I turned to my Derwent Watercolour pencils and AquaPainter.  I love the results, don't you?

I used a brownish green to ground them and show the shadows.  The sentiment was the hardest part of the card this time.  I knew what I wanted to say but wasn't certain I actually had a stamp which said anything that was close to what I had in mind.  This was from the Stampin' Up! set, Wonderful Moments.  I think it works perfectly.

I took this close-up to show the shimmery light around the candle flame.  It's understated but shows a pretty, soft glow.  Perfect for this adorable scene.

WWC266 - Heidi's Challenge: All About Occasions

I'm so excited to share my brand new House-Mouse image for the challenge I'm hosting for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  It's a large image and so beautifully detailed.  I hope you love what I've done with it as much as I do!

I wanted the image to be the star of the "show" and so I kept it simple.  My base is the Heavy Whisper White and the image is stamped on Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  I didn't use a matte so that the image seems to blend right onto the card.

There is a wonderful House-Mouse site where one can find the colours of all the adorable little critters.  This one is Maxwell and he's a warm brown.  That was easy enough but the pansies were another story.  We had snow yesterday.  There are still patches left on the ground although it was milder today.  No self-respecting pansy is showing its face in my part of the world at the moment.  Thank Heaven for the internet.  I searched and found a veritable "smorgasbord" of pansy images.  The only problem was deciding which colour mine would be.  I hope you like my final choice.

I used my Derwent watercolour pencils and Aqua-brushes to colour the images.  There were no droplets dripping from the brush in Ellen Jareckie's version but I used poetic license to add three tiny drops.  Maxwell simply isn't capable of colouring anything without a spot or two on the ground, you see.

In the close-up you can see that I added some shine to the paint and droplets.  After colouring, I covered those areas with my Shimmery Crystal Effects.  It is so shiny that it actually looks like wet paint.  Yay!  It's hard to tell, but I also added some pretty sparkle to the brush.  After colouring it with that lovely blue and silver, I added some Nuvo Glitter Gloss over it and in real life it's so very pretty.

I hope you love my card as much as I loved making it.  Have fun checking out our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and I hope you'll link your creation before the deadline on April 13th.

ATSM #321 - A piece of my heart

Oh my goodness, today it's "Anything Goes" for the Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge!  How much fun is that?  I love it when I can just go off and do what I want, don't you?  And with a new House Mouse stamp having arrived, can you guess what I'm using for my card this week?

This one is called Paper Clip Heart and sweet little Maxwell is offering Amanda a heart which he's just created out of a paper clip.  I used my Watercolour Pencils and Aqua-Painter for the colouring.  Of course once I got into the paper clips, I turned to my Silver Gel Pen.  And for a few of those paper clips, I turned to my Gold Gel Pen.  After all, don't we all have a mix of both?

For the paper clip heart I decided that I would give it a bit more of a 3-D effect and used the Silver Liquid Pearls for that.  Before adding my coloured image piece, I put the base through my Big Shot with the Falling Petals embossing folder (retired).  It just continued the heart theme.

This was such fun to create.  I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else links up as their "anything goes".
