WWC260 - Karen's Challenge: All About Occasions

I have some awesome Art Impressions stamps created by Bonnie Krebs which are perfect for a get well card.  Even more perfect, this stamp set has the most adorable cat images.  Why is that perfect, you ask.  Well, this card is for my darling daughter who is having more problems with a  chronic ear infection.  I couldn't resist .

I began with a base of  Heavy Whisper White  and then added a matte of Blushing Bride.  Then I took a piece of  Smoky Slate and embossed it with a Darice embossing folder.  Love, love, love those paw prints, don't you?   I think it's really striking that some prints are embossed and some are debossed. Such a great effect!

I had such fun watercolouring the image.  I used my Derwent watercolour pencils and then went over the colours with my Aquapainter to blend them.  Once it was dry, I used my stitched oval die to cut it out and then used Dimensionals to attach it to the card.

I hope you enjoy my card as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Have fun with our challenge!

Ink and/or Paint at Cardz 4 Guyz

The new challenge for the next two weeks at Cardz 4 Guyz is #239 - Ink and/or Paint, chosen and hosted by Sian.

I think the die for the Eiffel Tower, released by Stampin' Up! in their Mini Catalogue this year, is stunning and so versatile.  Even if a person hasn't been to Paris in the Springtime, the sheer number of paintings and photographs of the profusions of blossoms and greenery makes it hard not to be aware of the beauty that abounds.  I used my inks to create an "explosion" of colours onto which I mounted my metallic Eiffel Tower and the sentiment.  Which guy wouldn't enjoy receiving this for his birthday?

The base of the card is the Heavy Whisper White, while the matte is Blackberry Bliss.  I've used the Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow and Tangerine Tango inks for the background.

I hope you enjoy my card as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Have fun with our challenge!

WWC259 - Dawn's Challenge: Anything Goes With a Masculine Twist

Oh my goodness!  We have a masculine challenge at our Watercooler Wednesday and it's perfect timing since it's also my grandson's birthday.  It's a very special birthday since he's entering the TEENS!  So, what kind of card will I make for my awesome almost 13-year-old grandson?  I'll give you a hint.  It has a house-mouse on the front.

The backstory to this is, of course, Xavian's obsession with Chinese fortune cookies.  He has loved them from the first time he was given one.  He likes the cute fortunes but he loves the flavour.

You can see why I bought this stamp, under the circumstances.  What could be more cute than a darling house-mouse surrounded by new and broken fortune cookies?  None of the little papers had any writing on them.  I added that myself.  The one being held up is, again, perfect for our talented showman.

WWC 258 - Marsha's Challenge: All About Occasions

Friday is Valentine's Day so I had to create a card for that occasion.  Don't we all still give Valentines to our special someone(s)?

I've had this adorable Penny Black stamp set called Piece of My Heart for several years and love all the sweet images.  This year I decided to use these little hedgehogs which give the stamp set its name.   The real fun was in the colouring.  I used my coloured Derwent pencils along with Gamsol to blend the colours.  I love the results, don't you?

That lovely, lacy oval die-cut is another of my Gina Marie dies.  To finish up, I used another die to cut a bunch of tiny white hearts and adhered them to the top right and bottom left of the card, along with a few tiny silver heart sequins.

Brads and/or Eyelets at Cardz 4 Guyz

The new challenge for the next two weeks at Cardz 4 Guys is #238 - Brads and/or Eyelets, chosen and hosted by Jane.

Please check out the blog for details and also to see the wonderful samples by the Design Team.

I love this sunburst die from the Gina Marie collection!  I knew I wanted to use it to showcase one of the gorgeous horses from the Inkadinkado "Horses" stamp set for this challenge.  My idea was to attach the die-cut circle to the card using some tiny brads which I had bought years ago.  Of course, that meant finding the silly things.  I almost gave up on them but then suddenly found them hiding in my Washi Tape drawer rather than the Brad and Button drawer in which I had been so sure I had stored them.  You would almost think they didn't want to be used.

I kept the card simple to show off the brads.  Onto a base of Early Espresso cardstock, I glued and then secured with a brad, the lovely sunburst die-cut (cut from a piece of retired Kraft paper).  After stamping the horse image, I used a stitched circle die to cut it out and then coloured it using my Stampin' Blends.  After that I glued it to the centre of the sunburst and began poking holes where each ray met the circle.  Then I added a tiny mini brad to each hole.  I love the effect, don't you?

I hope you enjoy my card as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Have fun with our challenge!

WWC257 - Heidi's Challenge: Anything Goes With a Feminine Twist

Yay, it's my turn as a host for our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge!  This week it's Anything Goes With a Feminine Twist.  Such fun!  With Valentine's Day looming closer and closer, guess what type of card I've made this week.

I've used a base of Heavy Whisper White cardstock for this card.  Then I added a layer of gorgeous (retired) Lovely Lipstick Foil followed by another layer of Whisper White cardstock.  That finaly layer of white, however, went through some heavy changes before becoming part of the card.  For that stunning heart, I used one of the Gina Marie dies.  I love that the flower cuts at the same time as all those intersecting lines and only the petals can be curled up to bring more attention to it.

Of course I not only curled up those petals, but also covered them with a layer of the sparkly Wink of Stella.  For the centre of the flower, I added a retired Dahlia embellishment to which I added a few spots of silver with my Silver Liquid Pearls.

I used a sentiment from the Altenew Dotted Blooms set and heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder.  The arrow is from another Gina Marie die set and is cut from the Lovely Lipstick foil.

As a finishing touch, I used another Gina Marie die: the "Love" in that beautiful script.  I think it's perfect cut out of the Silver foil to balance the Silver embossing, don't you?

I love the way these colours work together and also how perfectly the dies came together as well.  I hope you do, too.
