WCC08 -- Sparkle

Watercooler Challenges

This week the artists of the Watercooler Challenge are presenting their versions of Punch Art.  Granted, my version of the technique called "punch art" is a bit primitive.  I consider myself more of a beginner in the "punch art" field.  Some people manage to create punch art that is almost magically alive.  Mine barely croaks---but she can dance.

The tutu is made using those very handy Fringe scissors and a piece of Blushing Bride.  That was the easy part of my little creation.  That and the water-lily pad with its flower.  Those were the easy parts. I finally decided to cut the body out of Old Olive using my Oval framelits and the legs using the framelit for the wreath hanger from the Wonderful Wreath framelits dies.  For the arms I used my Circle framelits, putting one inside the other for a curved, narrow piece that I cut into two pieces.  The hands are a portion of the middle sized flower from Boho Blossoms.

The head gave me a bit more trouble but I finally decided to use the Small Oval punch to cut one full oval and one half oval.  Placed together and with a white eye made using my 3/4" Circle Punch, it almost looked right and became much more believably a face when I used my Old Olive Blendabilities to draw in a mouth and to shade in places.  The ballet slippers were also cut with the Small Oval punch, cut in half and then artfully cut to resemble slippers.

I used Naturals White as my base with a layer of Marina Mist and then another layer of Naturals White onto which I glued my creation.  The bit of blue water is simply the lightest of the Night of Navy Blendabilities.  Oh---the crown!  Yes, that bit of glitz and sparkle is actually a bit of Silver Foil cut with the second largest of the Boho Blossoms punch.  After cutting it down to size and gluing it in place, I added three rhinestones to let the little lady have some glitter.

Those that know me, know that I have two blogs that are primarily for anything I've created.  Why two?  Well, I keep this one purely for my Stampin' Up! products while I allow myself to try other products with my other blog.  Why am I even mentioning this?  Well, my project for the Watercooler Challenge is based on a stamp that isn't Stampin' Up! and with which I made a card earlier in the week.  You can have a look at it here.   I like the stamped version better, but the punch art lady is growing on me.  (Or is that a wart?)

    1. Thanks, Susan. I'm thinking that maybe the name of the card should be her name. She's trying so hard to live up to it. :)

  3. Good froggy. By the look on the face I would say she is having some trouble balancing. :)

    1. Thanks so much, Buffy. Honestly I almost did another punch art with the good old owl punch and then I looked at my froggy card and thought "why not?"

  5. Heidi, your frog clip art just cracks me up, it is so cute. Even better that it is based on a stamped froggie!

    1. Thank you very much, Jackie. I absolutely love the stamped froggie and tried my best to capture her essence. I came close but the stamped version is still my favourite.
