Hey there Friend -- Clean and simple
Sometimes when you make a clean and simple card, it is just like eating a potato chip: you can't just have one. That's what I frequently find after doing a clean and simple card. My mindset is still concentrating on how simply I can create a card and yet still make it striking (or fulfil a challenge). This is what happened to me today.
I really like the colour challenge at the Colour Me...! challenge blog. It is very, very simple. Two colours and a neutral are what they asked for.
At the CASology challenge blog they had a cue card that simply said "three".
So those are the two challenges which I decided to enter and for which I decided to design my card.
The colours immediately made me think of the stamp set that I used yesterday: Sea Street. Wouldn't those little starfish be the perfect "three"? And what better colour for them than Hello Honey. For my background I decided to use a stamp from yet another set: By the Tide. I love the simple script of one of the stamps and, stamped in the Coastal Cabana, it provided a perfect "sea" background for my little starfish. Of course it meant I had to mask the starfish in order to do that, but I'm getting used to fussy-cutting.
I added a spatter of Hello Honey to the left top and right bottom of the card using one of the My Paper Pumpkin stamps that I have and, from the same package, added the sentiment using Coastal Cabana.
My base cardstock is Naturals White followed by Hello Honey and then a layer of Coastal Cabana. Finally my stamped piece is Whisper White. It's a clean and simple card. I'm happy with it.
