Life is Good!

I've seen a few people making cards with the steamship from the Traveller stamp set showing a reflection in the water.  I've made a couple of cards myself, but always in full "living" colour.  This time I chose black and white---with a touch of colour.  That's what the challenge over at Stampin' Royalty Challenges happens to be and I thought this image would lend itself beautifully to such a theme.  I was right.

I kept my card very clean and simple, not only because I love that look but also because I'm entering the card into the SUO challenge and they are asking for a "clean and simple" theme.  Everything is stamped on one piece of Whisper White with minimal colouring using my Blendabilities.  I wanted that type of minimalist feel to it.  I stamped the ship slightly towards the left so that it seemed to be moving towards the empty space at the right.  I stamped the same image onto a piece of Window sheet and carefully lined it up against the bottom of the ship and then put even pressure across the Window sheet so that the image would transfer.  It's not as dark and well-stamped as the actual image but then what reflection is a true and clean mirror image, after all?

I extended the lines of the water slightly using my Project Life journalling pen.  Then I coloured the smokestacks and line along the edge of the ship's deck with my light Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities marker both on the "real" ship and the reflection.  Then I took my lightest Smoky Slate Blendabilities marker and coloured over the entire reflection.  I love the way it made the reflection look as if it was really across the water.

My base cardstock is Naturals White followed by a layer of Cherry Cobbler and a layer of Basic Black.  Then came the stamped and coloured piece of Whisper White.  To keep it clean and simple, I stamped the sentiment directly onto the Whisper White.  I love that "Life is Good" from the Project Life Remember This stamp set.

For more cards in black and white with a spot of colour, check out Stampin' Royalty.

And another challenge which is asking for black and white with a spot of colour, check out CAS on Sunday Challenge.

For more cards that are clean and simple, check out the Stampin' Up! Only challenge.

I also decided to enter this card into the Addicted to CAS challenge because their code word for the week was "luxury".  I would consider being able to travel on one of these ships the greatest luxury. For more cards that show an impression of luxury, check out Addicted to CAS!

    1. Ter, it's really not as hard as you would think. Even if you just try it on normal typing paper to get the hang of it, you'll see quickly that it isn't difficult and is so rewarding. I love the look.
