I love colour challenges. For me, however, Autumn usually brings forth thoughts of oranges, reds, yellows, browns and greens. Connie and Mary decided to have only three of those colours in their challenge. Well, that's what makes challenges such a good exercise, making full use of what is there.

CCMC378 - Hello Fall
I've never created with Connie and Mary before although I have, many times, enjoyed the results of their challenges with the inspiration that they've given me. But it's time, I thought, to give a bit back. And so I've finally created something for one of their challenges and am posting it in time to play along.
I love colour challenges. For me, however, Autumn usually brings forth thoughts of oranges, reds, yellows, browns and greens. Connie and Mary decided to have only three of those colours in their challenge. Well, that's what makes challenges such a good exercise, making full use of what is there.

I decided to have a base of Soft Suede followed by layers of Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow. Finally, for my stamped layer, I turned to Whisper White and used the Sheltering Tree stamp set for most of my stamping. For the leaves I alternated between the Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow but off-stamped the Mossy Meadow once to get a greener look. I did the same with the grasses. My sentiment is from the For All Things stamp set and, again, I off-stamped the Mossy Meadow once. The card didn't look complete to my eye. And so, rummaging through some of my retired sets, I found the Up, Up and Away stamp set, stamped the bird images using Soft Suede and was finally satisfied with the results.
For more cards using these colours, check out Connie and Mary's Challenge.

DeleteFabulous fall card! I really like the amount of leaves that you stamped. That is perfect for this time of year when many of them have fallen already. LOVE the birds! Thanks for joining us this week at Create with Connie and Mary.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love that set so much, Lisa. You can control the amount of leaves. Thanks for your wonderful comments.
DeleteWhat a beautiful fall scene! I love how you have double-matted the image - I especially love how the Hello Honey mat pops. Thank you for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Chris. I thought it needed that double matting and like the effect as well.
DeleteWonderful fall card...that stamp set is such a winner! I love the different colors in the tree...definitely looks like the trees around here! Thanks for playing along with the color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie. After our windstorm last night our trees look more undressed now but when I made the card it definitely reflected their state at the time.
DeleteI am so glad that you decided to play along! Your card is absolutely gorgeous and so fitting for this time of year! I agree with Lisa, the amount of leaves on the trees is spot on! Thanks for playing along with Create with Connie and Mary! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Bridgette.
DeleteYour creation is perfect for the color combination. I really like how the tree has just a few leaves left on it...like the wind has blown them away. Thanks for playing the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lisa. I really enjoyed the challenge.

DeleteWOW...that tree looks EXACTLY like most of the trees around here (Ohio) now! We are sooo glad you joined us this week Heidi for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Mary. Most of those leaves are on the ground in our area now but some are still hanging on.
