Welcome to another Watercooler Challenge! This week's challenge is a colour challenge. It's always interesting to see what one can do with set colours and with our colours being Night of Navy, Marina Mist and Silver, I decided my card would have a Christmas theme. Since one of my newest stamp sets happens to be Gentle Peace, I naturally reached for it.

WCC12 Believe --- Gentle Peace
*So thrilled to have my card among the top picks at Freshly Made Sketches!*
I decided to use Naturals White as my base and then added a layer of Night of Navy. Then I added a rectangle of Silver Foil and, partily on top of that, added a banner cut from the Marina Mist starry print from the Santa & Co. Designer Series paper.
I chose not to use the entire image from the Gentle Peace stamp, but, instead, cut the rectangular portion of it, leaving the stained glass window around the figures but eliminating the arch. Using only the Night of Navy, Marina Mist, and Silver to colour my image was a challenge, but that's what it's all about. I like the way it turned out---very minimalistic. Then I stamped a simple sentiment from the hostess Good Greetings stamp set: "believe" onto a piece of Night of Navy using Versamark and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I cut that out using my 1 1/4" circle punch and then cut a backing for it out of Silver Foil using my 1 3/8" circle punch.
I hope you'll check out the rest of the cards made by our Watercooler Artists and consider joining us by linking your own version of our colour challenge here.
I used the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge for my card. Check out more cards using this sketch here.
I've also entered my card in the Christmas Card Challenges.

great job, as always, Heidi! I like how simple, yet effective your card is. The colors worked out perfectly for this stamp set! You may have difficulty using other colors after this. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ter. I really had my doubts about such limited colours working, but in the end, love the effect.
DeleteCan't believe how beautiful this set looks in these colours. Wonderfully creative work, Heidi!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Doris. I wasn't sure I could pull it off with just those colours, but it worked. And I'm so pleased with the result.
DeleteFabulous card Miss Heidi. This color challenge really seems to be inspiring everyone to come up with elegant and gorgeous cards. I love the play of banner, rectangle and circles all together in the one design. The colors of course are perfect! I do love a blue and silver Christmas. Although when I think about it...this would be a wonderful baptism card to don't you think? The cool water tones and the simple statement of believe. CASEing this before the week gets much older. Hugs and love and thanks for always being an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind words, Jean.
