Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #106 - Make a Wish!

This week I get to be hostess at our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and even though it's a Clean & Simple challenge, I decided to step it up by making it all about sparkle.  It's fun to add that final touch of sparkle, isn't it?  And that's what my challenge is all about---having fun.

I kept my card clean and simple, leaving a lot of white space.  I began with a base of the Heavy Whisper White and added another layer of Whisper White onto which I heat embossed the swirl from the Star of Light set using clear embossing powder to which I added some Dazzling Diamonds.  You can see the sparkle in the photo but I assure you it is really sparkly and dazzling in person.

On a scrap of Whisper White I stamped the fairy image from the Fairy Celebration set and cut it out using a stitched oval die.  Then I stamped the wings a second time on another scrap and fussy cut them out.  Yes, I could have used the Bitty Butterfly punch, which fits those wings, but I wanted them cut right to the stamped line.  Fussy cutting was the only way to get that done.  After colouring the wings, I covered them with Versamark and then added a mixture of clear embossing powder mixed with the Dazzling Diamonds again.  You can see the sparkly effect in the photo.

After stamping my sentiment, I decided to cut two very narrow strips of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and attached those beside the right margin and the bottom margin.

I love all the sparkles on my card, don't you?

I hope you'll come on over to the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and check out the wonderful cards created by the other Watercooler Artists.  And then please consider creating your own sparkly card and linking it for us to enjoy.

    1. Thanks so much, Heather. Adding sparkle wasn't difficult. Photographing that sparkle was the hardest part of the challenge.

  2. What a beautiful, inspiring card to lead into this week's challenge Heidi. That little fairy with her gossamer wings and trail of fairy dust, is just so perfect. The two strips of Dazzling Diamonds just adds to the pizzazz. Love it!

    1. Thanks so much Penny. I have really enjoyed that Fairy Celebration set---ironic that I had initially not put it on my list. I'm finding that the flourish from the Star of Light set is handy for much more than Christmas.
